Whether you’re purchasing your first wig or creating a custom unit, accurate head measurements help us determine the appropriate cap size and construction for your individual needs.

Follow our step-by-step guide to ensure your measurements are as accurate as possible.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

For the most accurate results, prepare your hair as you intend to wear it underneath your wig.

If You Have Natural Hair:

We recommend measuring with your hair braided down as flat as possible or secured in a smooth, low-profile style.

Avoid measuring over bulky hairstyles, as this may affect the accuracy of your measurements.

If You Have Little or No Hair:

Measure directly against your scalp, following your natural hairline or the intended placement of your wig.

Important: If you plan to wear braids or another protective style underneath your unit, please indicate this when submitting your measurements. Additional room may be necessary depending on the hairstyle and cap construction.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

A soft, flexible measuring tape
A mirror or someone to assist you
A phone or notepad to record your measurements

All measurements should be recorded in inches.

THE SIX ESSENTIAL HEAD MEASUREMENTS

1. Circumference

Measure around the entire perimeter of your head.

Begin at the center of your front hairline, continue around the sides of your head behind your ears, and follow the nape before returning to your starting point.

Keep the measuring tape comfortably snug without pulling it too tightly.

2. Front to Nape

Place the measuring tape at the center of your front hairline.

Extend it over the crown of your head to the center of your nape hairline.

This measurement helps determine the front-to-back length of your wig cap.

3. Ear to Ear — Across Forehead

Begin at the hairline near the top of one ear.

Measure across your front hairline to the corresponding point near your opposite ear.

This measurement helps determine the width of the front portion of your wig cap.

4. Ear to Ear — Over the Top

Place the measuring tape at the top of one ear.

Extend it over the crown of your head to the same point above your opposite ear.

This measurement helps determine the width and coverage of your wig cap.

5. Temple to Temple — Around Back

Begin at one temple and extend the measuring tape around the back of your head to the opposite temple.

Follow the natural contour of your head while keeping the tape flat and secure.

6. Nape of Neck

Measure horizontally across the back of your neck, from one side of your nape hairline to the other.

This measurement helps determine the appropriate width of the back portion of your wig cap.

For the most accurate results:

Measure each area at least twice to confirm consistency.
Keep the measuring tape flat against your head without pulling too tightly.
Record your exact measurements rather than automatically rounding up.
Consider how you plan to wear your natural hair underneath your wig.
Have someone assist you when measuring areas that are difficult to reach.
Save your measurements for future purchases.

GENERAL WIG CAP SIZE GUIDE

Small: 20”–21.5”

Medium: 22”–22.5”

Large: 23” and above

These measurements are general circumference guidelines and may vary depending on cap construction and manufacturer specifications.

Please Note: Circumference alone does not determine your ideal wig size. Your remaining head measurements are equally important when creating a properly fitted custom unit.
